Awesome WhatsApp New Features and Changes – March 2023
This article summarizes all the latest WhatsApp new features launched on platforms like WhatsApp for Android and WhatsApp for Windows.

Limit selections in Polls
WhatsApp is testing limiting the poll response to a single-choice or multiple-choice on Android.
Previously, by default WhatsApp allow multiple responses from a single participant and now WhatsApp is giving an option to “Allow multiple answers” as a toggle when creating a new poll. This feature is currently being tested by selective testers and is expected to be launched globally soon. And it is also available on WhatsApp for Windows as well.
Profile pictures within group chats
WhatsApp new update shows profile pictures within the group chat on Android.
This feature is already available for WhatsApp iOS and Web. Now it has been tested out for some Android testers and is expected to roll out to everyone soon in the whatsapp latest version.
Admin approval for who can join groups
WhatsApp released a new feature for group admins to let admins approve new participants.
Now group admins can decide whether to let someone join the group or not. This option can be found under the group settings menu as “Approve new participants”.
View groups in common in search results
WhatsApp launched “Groups in common” search results for a specific contact name.
This feature made it easier to find common groups with a quick search of their contact name. Along with this WhatsApp officially announced doubled group size from 512 to 1024 which we already revealed in our article.
WhatsApp also rolling out following minor tweaks for announcement groups of communities as well,
- Announcement group is renamed to “Updates”.
- Community icons will also be shown for announcement groups.
- Now It shows a “Home” label.
Report WhatsApp status
WhatsApp added a new option to the status drop-down where the user can report a status update by tapping on the ⋮ menu.
This feature is made available to everyone and when you report a status it will be sent to WhatsApp for further moderation.
Mute Chats from notification banners
WhatsApp brought back the ability to mute notifications from notification banners to all chats.
This feature was initially launched in 2017, but WhatsApp changed the behaviour to only large groups later and has now been brought back.

Muti-select in WhatsApp UWP
WhatsApp added the ability to select multiple chats in a single go with a new select menu.
WhatsApp for Windows with end-to-end encryption and 32-person video call support.
Mark Zuckerberg officially announced the public launch of the new WhatsApp for Windows application with 32-person video call support as well as a seamless mobile-like experience.
