Do Not Disturb on WhatsApp

WhatsApp started testing support for Do Not Disturb API which means now calls will be automatically silenced whenever you enabled DND for your mobile device.

Further, the calls will be labelled as “Silenced by Do Not Disturb” and the person who calls you will be notified with a chat label as below.

When will you get DND support?

Currently, this is being rolled out to everyone.

Bulk apply disappearing messages timer for WhatsApp

WhatsApp introduced a new option under the Disappearing messages menu where you can apply a timer to chat quickly in a single list view.

When will you get Apply timer to chat option?

Currently, this is being tested with testers but you can check whether it is available for you or not but navigate as follows, Settings > Privacy > Disappearing messages.

“WhatsApp for Tablets” is on the way

WhatsApp testing a whole new tablet app with testers and it is testing it with a new banner.

When will you get WhatsApp for Tablets?

Currently, this feature is being tested within selected people only and hopefully it will be available to everyone soon.

You can check the availability of this feature by visiting Linked devices and when you press the three-dot menu it will say “Linked devices beta” if this feature is available for you.

“Message Yourself” on WhatsApp

Now you can “Message Yourself” on WhatsApp 😅; I can understand it sounds a bit crazy but it is a pretty useful feature where you can easily send reminders, and notes for you to recall.

Along with this WhatsApp also launched the increased group size of 1024. Previously the limit was kept at 512 members per group.

When will you get “Message Yourself” on WhatsApp?

Currently, this feature is available to testers only but WhatsApp officially announced this feature on Twitter so it will be available for everyone within the coming weeks.

WhatsApp polls are here

WhatsApp released the ability to create, vote and share polls in chat and you can also search for a specific poll with the new Polls search filter option.

This feature has been launched to everyone and now it is available on all major platforms like WhatsApp web, WhatsApp for Windows, Android and iOS.

WhatsApp is getting a new “Tools to save space” option

WhatsApp is testing a new “Tools to save space” option inside the Manage storage which currently shows a link disappearing menu settings.

Currently, this feature is being tested by the testers and hopefully it will be available to everyone soon. You can check the availability of this feature by going to Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage and if you can see the above new option it is available for you.

WhatsApp will automatically mute larger groups

WhatsApp testing a new functionality which will automatically mute larger groups with participants over 256 to help you reduce annoying notifications. But, as always you can unmute or customize the notifications individually based on your preference as well.

When will you get automatically mute larger groups?

Currently, this feature is being tested with selected users only and once you received this feature WhatsApp will show a banner as shown above within the group to let you know.

WhatsApp getting some new emoji

WhatsApp started to test new slightly changed but noticeable changes to some emojis and going to get roll out 21 new emojis as well according to WABETAINFO.

When will you get the new emojis?

Currently, WhatsApp only rolling out the redesigned emojis for 8 emojis only and soon it will start rollout 21 new emojis. You can just check it by sending a text with the above emojis to find it out. Hopefully, it will be available for everyone.

WhatsApp windows got a “call history” tab

Now you can view call history through this new sidebar menu on your windows.

WhatsApp added a new Typing shortcut for windows which will redirect to the system settings where you can change the autocorrect and spell check settings.

It’s already available under the system setting and you can get this shortcut by updating to the latest version of WhatsApp desktop from the Microsoft store.
