Video calls in WhatsApp is getting faker and bigger

WhatsApp added a bunch of new features additions to the video call:

• Backgrounds : Add a background image or blur the background while keeping the subject focused.
• Filters : Users can add real-time filters in a video call.
• Low light mode : Will increase the visibility in low light.
• Touch up mode : Smoothen your skin by hiding the pimple and marks in your face.

Full size status previews and more status updates in WhatsApp

WhatsApp updates tab now shows a full size status preview which let users view status updates without even open it up.

They also redesigned the individual status view with some minor UI improvements and menu icons.

When talking about status WhatsApp also started adding accent color backgrounds for status update just like Instagram while changing the aspect ratio to 9:16.

Meta seemingly doing a similar preview experience for Instagram and Facebook as well.

Zoom level in WhatsApp camera

WhatsApp started showing the zoom level (2x, 3x …) in their camera preview screen.

Avatar Stickers with Text

WhatsApp rolled out some new Avatar stickers with Text punch lines (ex: Cheers!).

Availability: Widely available to all users.

GIPHY stickers in WhatsApp

Sticker search in WhatsApp now includes GIPHY stickers stickers as well.
Means similar to GIFs users can now also have access to a large sticker collection of GIPHY which includes both static and animated stickers.

Pin large files from storage

Users can Pin Large files directly from Storage settings in WhatsApp for Android.
This can be found under storage and data >> manage storage.
