WhatsApp is getting status rings in the chat list similar to Instagram and other platforms. This feature has been initially rolled out to iOS and web platforms and now it is available for WhatsApp Android.

WhatsApp audio statuses.
WhatsApp tests the ability to post audio statuses and users can also be able to record 30 seconds long voice statuses and share audio directly from the chat. Currently, there is no direct way to upload audio files to status yet users can send it to their self and forward it to status.

This feature is currently being tested with some beta testers and is expected to be rolled out to everybody soon.

WhatsApp is getting a new camera UI where you can now swipe to switch between camera and recording modes.

Increased character limit for WhatsApp group description
WhatsApp increased the group subject & community name character count from 25 to 100 and also increased the group/community description character count from 512 to 2048.

This feature is currently being tested by selective testers and will be available to everyone soon.
